WiSE Design Group provides specialized engineering services for architects, design/build General Contractors, Industrial facilities, maintenance teams and electrical contractors. We support design-build electrical contracting and deliver industrial and commercial design and construction services across North Georgia and the Southeast.

We are part of a 39-year organization known for landmark manufacturing projects throughout the region. Most work is local, supporting strong work-life balance.

Our new 75,000 sq. ft. headquarters opened in July to support continued growth and expanded services that strengthen our services.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced licensed Electrical Engineer, P.E. to build and lead our engineering department. This role will evolve into a management- and delegation-focused position, (prior management experience not required). You will create designs, structure, develop processes, and grow the team while providing technical leadership on electrical system design and analysis for commercial and industrial building construction projects.

You will work primarily on building and facility electrical systems (generally 600 V and below), including power distribution, interior/exterior and emergency lighting, emergency/standby generators, and arc-flash / SCCR studies. Fire alarm and low-voltage systems will be coordinated with other engineers or issued as bases of design for bidding.

Beyond core design work, you will partner with our marketing team on marketing materials and our documentation specialists on documentation process, record filing, project management, submittals, quality control and related initiatives that support department growth. You will also collaborate with (prior experience not required) WiSE Building Technologies our affiliated software development company to assist in developing electrical & mechanical systems assets, and supporting tools, and coordinating with the automation division on UL 508A industrial control panels. Delegation will include managing engineers and designers who report directly to you as the role grows.

This role spans the full engineering process—from initial concept and design through construction support—while leveraging our patented WiSE Building Technologies software platform for end-user system maintenance. The combination of design, construction, and software exposure develops well-rounded, highly practical engineers.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Department Building

· Provide management and leadership as the engineering team is built, with strong focus on delegation, mentoring, and creating organizational structure.

· Manage and delegate work to electrical, designers and drafters as needed.

· Create and implement design standards, processes, and departmental structure to support scalable growth.

· Collaborate with the marketing team and documentation specialists on marketing materials, process documentation, and other initiatives that develop and promote the engineering department.

Technical Design & Analysis

· Design complete electrical systems for new construction and renovation projects, including power distribution, interior/exterior lighting, emergency/standby power, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.

· Prepare detailed construction documents, specifications, and load calculations.

· Perform short-circuit studies, arc-flash analyses, and coordination reports using Revit, SKM PowerTools, Power Design Master and/or other industry-standard software.

· Coordinate with the automation team on UL 508A industrial control panel development and with the broader engineering team on designs. Experience not required.

· Partner with WiSE Building Technologies to develop primarily Revit- and Excel-based assets, schedules, and supporting materials for the automation/control-panel focus, including related IoT solutions. This function is not an IoT or automation engineering role, only collaboration.

Project Delivery & Construction Integration

· Work with Estimating team on design concepts and engineering hours required for pricing bid packages; review estimated vs. actual hours; and develop KPIs, checklists, and delivery processes for improvements of the team.

· Collaborate with architects, structural, mechanical, and fire-protection engineers, and project managers throughout design and construction phases.

· Participate in the full project lifecycle when required by conducting site visits, reviewing submittals and shop drawings, responding to RFIs, and providing construction support drawings. Field exposure strengthens engineering judgment and enables close collaboration with crews on best practices. (This requires minimal site vists)

· Ensure all designs comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA standards local building codes, energy codes, and client requirements.

· Participate in value-engineering and constructability reviews.

· Ability to work with Forma (formally Autodesk Construction Cloud).

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).

· Active P.E. license required (reciprocal license acceptable at hire; Georgia license must be obtained within 30 days).

· Demonstrated ability to lead technical work, mentor others, and improve processes through effective coordination and delegation.

· Proficiency with Revit, Autodesk Construction Cloud (Forma), and SKM PowerTools. (AutoCAD experience alone is not sufficient; it comprises less than 1% of the work in this role.)

· Strong working knowledge of NFPA 70 National Electric Code

· Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced engineering and construction environment.

· Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment.

Preferred
