Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Cook/Baker to join our culinary team at Caldwell County High School. This full-time position involves preparing nutritious and delicious meals for students and staff, as well as baking a variety of goods to enhance our school’s dining experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to food safety and nutrition, along with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of meals and baked goods according to established recipes and nutritional guidelines.
• Ensure all food is prepared and presented in a safe, hygienic, and appealing manner.
• Monitor food inventory, assist with ordering supplies, and maintain stock levels.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and baking areas, adhering to health and safety regulations.
• Assist in menu planning and development, incorporating seasonal ingredients and student preferences.
• Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient meal service during lunch periods.
• Train and supervise student workers and kitchen volunteers as needed.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and stay updated on culinary trends and techniques.
• Assist in special events and catering as required by the school.
• Maintain accurate records of food production and waste for reporting purposes.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; culinary degree or certification preferred.
• Proven experience in cooking and baking, preferably in a school or institutional setting.
• Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with staff and students.
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a busy kitchen.
• Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items as needed.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing menus and dietary needs.
• Passion for working with young people and creating a positive dining experience.
• Basic computer skills for inventory management and record-keeping.
