Responsibilities
- Assist the head coach in planning and conducting effective practices and training sessions.
- Help develop and implement game strategies and skill development programs.
- Provide individual and group instruction to student-athletes to improve their skills and performance.
- Monitor student-athletes’ academic progress and encourage a strong commitment to academics.
- Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that promotes respect, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Communicate regularly with players, parents, and school administration regarding team activities and expectations.
- Assist in organizing and supervising team events, including games, tournaments, and fundraisers.
- Ensure compliance with all school and athletic department policies and regulations.
- Attend all scheduled practices, games, and staff meetings as required.
Requirements
- Previous coaching experience or playing experience in basketball at the middle school or high school level preferred.
- Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and coaching techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the head coach, athletic staff, and school administration.
- Commitment to the academic and athletic success of student-athletes.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for practices and games.
- A background check will be required prior to employment.
