Job Title: Part-Time HR Generalist (Compliance-Focused)

Department: Human Resources
Reports To: HR Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Schedule: Part-Time, 20–30 hours per week
Location: On-site; limited hybrid flexibility may be available based on business needs


Compensation

The expected hourly pay range for this position is $30.00 – $38.00 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity. This position is classified as non-exempt and eligible for overtime in accordance with applicable wage and hour laws.

Position Summary

The Part-Time HR Generalist (Compliance-Focused) supports the execution and administration of human resources compliance, documentation, and risk mitigation activities across the organization. This role partners closely with the HR Manager to ensure compliance with federal, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and other applicable state and local employment laws in a multi-state manufacturing environment.

This position is intended to provide hands-on compliance support as the organization stabilizes and scales its HR infrastructure. As business needs evolve, the scope and hours of this role may be reassessed; however, no guarantee of full-time employment is implied.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Compliance & Risk Management (Primary Focus)

  • Support HR compliance programs including I-9 and E-Verify administration, personnel file audits, wage and hour compliance initiatives, and required workplace postings
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with federal, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and other applicable state and local employment laws
  • Track, administer, and document required employee acknowledgements and compliance training
  • Assist with employee handbook updates, policy implementation, and documentation control
  • Support ADA accommodations, FMLA, and other leave-related documentation in coordination with the HR Manager
  • Maintain compliant employee records in accordance with federal and state retention requirements

HR Administration & Employee Lifecycle Support

  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes, including documentation, system access coordination, and employee communications
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee questions related to HR policies, compliance, and documentation
  • Support employee relations documentation and investigations as directed
  • Coordinate employment verifications and respond to records requests

Recruiting & Pre-Employment Support

  • Assist with job postings, applicant tracking, interview coordination, and pre-employment processes
  • Coordinate background checks, drug screens, and onboarding requirements
  • Prepare offer letters and new hire documentation under direction of the HR Manager

HRIS & Data Integrity

  • Maintain accurate employee data in the HRIS, including job changes, compensation updates, and terminations
  • Support HR audits, reporting, and data cleanup initiatives
  • Partner with Payroll to ensure accurate HR data submission (no payroll processing responsibility)

Projects & Process Improvement

  • Support HR compliance projects, audits, and process improvements
  • Assist with implementation of standardized HR procedures and documentation
  • Perform additional HR-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required

  • 2–4 years of HR Generalist or HR compliance-focused experience
  • Working knowledge of employment laws including FLSA, I-9/E-Verify, EEO, ADA, FMLA, and applicable Maryland and Pennsylvania regulations
  • Experience supporting HR compliance in a multi-state or regulated environment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent organizational, documentation, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Preferred

  • Manufacturing or industrial workforce experience
  • Experience with HRIS platforms (UKG Ready or similar)
  • HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) or progress toward certification

Work Schedule & Flexibility

  • Part-time position requiring 20–30 hours per week
  • Schedule flexibility available within business needs
  • Role scope and hours may be reassessed based on organizational growth and performance

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Primarily office-based with periodic presence on the manufacturing floor
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally
