This is the first of five levels in the Human Services series.
Incumbents determine client eligibility for assigned programs. Responsibilities may include compiling and reviewing financial data; determining eligibility for services based on established guidelines; promoting service offerings; completing an initial assessment of client needs; creating and maintaining files; compiling statistics and preparing reports; and performing related clerical duties.(The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not require supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.) and one year customer service or clerical support experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

- Gathers and validates personal and financial information; maintains client confidentiality and compliance with applicable laws and regulations; determines program eligibility.
- Assesses client needs; evaluates community service and/or program requests.
- Prepares, maintains, updates, and compiles a variety of operational and statistical data, records, reports, and files.
- Promotes service offerings which includes responding to a variety of inquiries regarding programs.
- May perform a variety of administrative duties including monitoring office inventory, answering phones, and/or performing related duties.
- Provides routine, standard clerical support to a department or function.
- Gathers information from the general public and staff.
- Provides customer service including accepting routine or standard payments.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
