CalCAPA OVERVIEW
The California Community Action Partnership Inc. (CalCAPA is a membership anti-poverty, policy, and advocacy 501-c3 nonprofit organization. Members of the Association are approximately 60 local private and public Community Action Agencies in California. Principle network members are designated recipients of the federal Community Services Block Grant, which supports each organization’s core anti-poverty mission. The Association strives to build collaboration and key partnerships with other organizations that share the anti-poverty role and mission and has membership and has affiliate and associate membership categories.
Job Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Director of Training and Technical Assistance (TTA), this position will assist in coordinating and delivering training and technical assistance programs for the association.
Administrative
· Responsible for coordinating the administrative functions related to the CalCAPA TTA projects including TTA team meetings, reporting duties as assigned via the Director, assistance with grant proposals and renewal processes, and contract monitoring as appropriate.
· Provide communication of TTA activities to the Director of TTA to assist in communication to the Deputy Director of Policy and Admin, Events and Communications Coordinator, and Administrative Coordinator
· Coordinator with Project Coordinator regarding timeline and status of CSBG administrative requirements including progress reporting.
· Participate in standing TTA team-based meetings and engage cross-departmental CalCAPA staff as appropriate.
Programmatic
· Training and Technical Assistance
o Provide technical assistance to CalCAPA members and staff related to CSBG and other agency programming or contracted scope of practice.
o Research pending legislation, TTA, and ‘best practices’ of all national community action training frameworks to best advise agencies and members.
o Assist with annual state-wide training needs assessment which identifies skills or knowledge gaps in conjunction with California CSD.
o Use known education principles and stay current on new training methods and techniques.
o Develop and implement specific TTA projects to the network.
o Support the successful implementation of capacity building and TTA activities.
o Prepare monthly statistical, fiscal, and narrative reports regarding TTA and capacity-building activities.
o Provides staff support to the CalCAPA committees and advisory groups.
o Promote and market CalCAPA TTA services to CalCAPA members, state associations, RPICs, national partners and associations, as well other state-wide partners in work on poverty or economic mobility.
· Education and Outreach
o Develop fact sheets that local agencies can customize to distribute to government staff, legislators, donors, board members, and media.
o Ensures compliance with contract requirements (scope of work, budget, data collection, reporting) and deadlines.
o Assists in the research and development of related grant funding proposals.
o Assists with data gathering and reporting.
Fiscal
· Submit purchasing requests for training and technical assistance activities
· Ensure compliance with all contracts
Advocacy
· Deliver knowledge of key advocacy issues and activities related to CalCAPA that affect the agency, its membership, and the communities they serve.
· Participate actively in planning, organizing, and implementing the agency’s advocacy work to promote mission and vision.
General Agency Duties
· Foster an environment that promotes trust and cooperation amongst staff, management, and clients.
· Attend staff, management, and program meetings, and staff retreats.
· Participate in agency functional teams and ad-hoc committees.
· Actively participate in planning agency-wide activities such as quarterly and annual retreats, volunteer activities, and holiday and other events.
· Represent CalCAPA in meetings and conferences, as appropriate.
· Provide logistical support on project activities as needed.
· Other duties as requested by the Executive Director and Deputy Director
QUALIFICATIONS:
· A bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years of experience in adult education or training, or a combination of education and professional experience in adult education or training totaling five years.
· Extensive knowledge of current best practices in instructional design, training evaluation, and adult education.
· Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Community Action, economic mobility, equity, injustices as well as United States and California poverty issues preferred
· Demonstrated program and project management knowledge and skills required. Federal grant management experience preferred.
· Excellent speaking and written skills are required.
· Proficiency with cloud-based computer systems, Google Suite, and Microsoft 365 software is required.
· Ability to advocate
· Experience in curriculum development and education program planning is desired.
· Experience in managing, monitoring, and reporting for federal government grants desired.
· Two to four years of community-based organization experience is strongly desired.
· Be able to work as a team member in a fast-paced environment.
Salary: $60,000.00
