Director of Procurement

Summary: This role is responsible for establishing and scaling procurement across raw materials, packaging, and MRO within a growing, multi-site CPG organization. The leader will create structure where it does not fully exist today, owning day-to-day execution, supplier performance, system and data enablement, and cost improvement while ensuring supply stability, operational readiness, and reliable planning support for the business.

Core Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end procurement execution across raw materials, packaging, and MRO within a multi-site manufacturing environment.
• Establish and scale standardized procurement processes, governance, and supplier management where structure does not exist today.
• Lead sourcing strategy, supplier selection, and contract negotiations to deliver measurable cost, margin, and working capital improvement.
• Develop infrastructure to monitor market trends, price fluctuations, economic factors, and regulatory changes that may impact the supply chain.
• Conduct "should-cost" analysis, ensuring the organization receives the best value and favorable contract terms and develop contingency plans.
• Build and manage a resilient supplier base across all categories, including dual-sourcing strategies, performance management, and risk mitigation.
• Ensure uninterrupted supply to manufacturing operations, preventing material-driven disruptions and supporting high OTIF performance.
• Own procurement data integrity and system effectiveness, including ERP transactions, item master governance, and MRP parameters.
• Build, lead, and develop a procurement team with clear accountability for execution, financial acumen, and cross-functional partnership.

KPIs

• Deliver 5–10% cost improvement (first 12–24 months)
• Transition to 2–3% annual cost productivity
• Maintain ≥ 85% spend under contract
• Execute purchase orders to support ≥ 98.5% OTIF
• Support 100% OTIF for Top 50 SKUs
• Zero plant shutdowns due to procurement failure
• Improve DPO by 2–5 days
• Maintain ≥ 45% dual-source coverage (path to 65%)
• Reduce emergency purchases to < 5 per week
• Reduce commercialization cycle time toward < 6 weeks

Experience & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Finance, Accounting, Operations Mgmt or Business Admin.  MBA or Master’s degree preferred
• 10–12 years of procurement experience in CPG, food, or manufacturing with brand building experience preferred
• 4–6 years of team leadership experience
• Demonstrated experience in tracking, analyzing, and applying market intelligence to purchasing decisions.
• Demonstrated strong analytical capabilities to interpret complex data, such as commodity pricing, supplier financial health, and market trends.
• Experience in supporting manufacturing operations (multi-site preferred).
• Experience in managing co-manufacturers operations preferred.
• Proven track record in negotiating complex contracts and developing long-term procurement strategies with an annual spend in the range of $75MM–$200MM
• Experience working within ERP systems such as: Microsoft Dynamics 365, Oracle NetSuite, or SAP

While the ideal candidate will be located near one of our plants, this role may be performed remotely with approximately 15% (3-6 days/month) travel to plant locations. Candidates must reside in one of the following states: Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Mississippi, New Hampshire, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, or Washington.
