Customer Service Representative
Calaveras Big Trees Association (CBTA) is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit cooperating association. CBTA’s mission is to support the delivery of high quality educational and interpretive programs for Calaveras Big Trees State Park.
CBTA works in partnership with California State Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) in the effort to enrich the experiences of visitors and to promote public awareness of the significance of the natural features of the Park through educational programs, publications, and financial support. The Visitor Center is operated by CBTA employees working alongside DPR staff and docents.

The Customer Service Representative will be available to work daily and holidays in the Visitor Center under the direct supervision of the Retail Manager, who reports to the President of CBTA. This is a seasonal, full-time position working at least 32 hours per week, at the pay rate of $17/hour to start. Employer pays payroll taxes, workers compensation. Generally, work hours are 9:30-5:30.
Customer Service Representative Duties and Responsibilities:
- Promote a safe, productive, positive and harassment-free work environment for all co-workers, customers, and vendors.
- Engage docents and work together on cashiering and general shop keeping.
- Become an expert in the educational value of store inventory and be able to communicate the significance to store visitors.
- General shop keeping includes; dusting fixtures, folding and straightening apparel, cleaning and organizing drawers, restocking merchandise from back stock, and more.
- Open and close register till and perform deposit.
- Assist docents in donation collecting and membership creation.
- Follow direction of the Retail Manager to improve customer service, store appearance, membership and donation generation by following direction and being open to feedback with constructive criticism.
Customer Service Representative Position Requirements:
- Ability to stock merchandise and be able to lift up to 50 lbs, reaching and bending as needed.
- Basic mathematical and computer skills.
- Knowledge of basic cash handling procedures.
- Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills.
- Point of sale computer skills.
- Be flexible and willing to learn new things to improve operations and service.
- Able to take direction from supervisors.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work even during inclement weather.
- Must be available weekends and holidays.
Compensation and Conditions
Wage - $17/hour DOE
Business Hours and Location of Visitor Center
- Seven days a week – Hours of Visitor Center dependent on season.
Usually - 10am-4pm Winter 10am-5-pm Summer
Closed Thanksgiving and Christmas
