Supervises the Accounts Payable Supervisor and oversees Accounts Payable The Controller’s office is responsible for maintaining general accounting records, financial reporting, student billing and collections, cash disbursements, cash receipts and payroll. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (including But Not Limited To)
- Preparation of monthly journal entries.
- Preparation of monthly balance sheet account reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies as needed.
- Supports the Controller during the year-end close process, including preparation of reconciliations, accruals, and year-end closing entries.
- Assist with annual audit preparation, compiling schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for the external auditors.
- Maintain and oversee accounting records for long-term and short- term debt, including bond payables, equipment leases, and lines of credit.
- Oversee Investment accounting , including analysis of investment account statements, preparation and post accounting entries in Colleague and FunDriver. Performs reconciliation between Colleague and FunDriver to ensure data accuracy across systems.
- Prepare endowment distribution report and record corresponding journal entries.
- Coordinating with the Advancement’s Office to ensure that gift and contracts are properly recorded and awarded.
- Coordinate with the Financial Aid Office and Advancement to prepare annual named scholarship award list.
- Releasing net assets quarterly based on project expenditures.
- Maintain the chart of accounts to ensure proper structure and consistency across financial systems.
- Safeguard confidential and sensitive financial records, ensuring proper handling and compliance with institute policies.
- Communicate accounting policies and procedures to schools/departments as needed and monitor compliance.
- Collaborate with other accounting personnel on project accounting functions and maintain accurate payment records to support financial reporting and project tracking.
- Oversee and support the AP Supervisor, which includes review and analysis of AP reporting, tax filing and various reconciliations. Review and update AP policies as needed.
- Assist with Federal grant accounting activities to ensure accuracy of federal reporting and gift expenditure recording.
- Support the Controller with regulatory and compliance reporting, including eZ Audits submissions, IPEDS reporting and other special projects.

- Experience with various accounting software required.
- Excellent excel skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
