Cloud & Business Application Systems Engineer
A self-clearing Broker-Dealer based on Wall Street is seeking an experienced Cloud & Business Application Systems Engineer to support and align our cloud infrastructure with our critical trading and clearing systems. This multifaceted role bridges the gap between infrastructure and business applications, helping to design, implement, and support cloud services (Azure and AWS) that directly integrate high-performance trading operations, OMS platforms, FIX connectivity, and back-office systems.
The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise in cloud engineering with hands-on broker-dealer experience, understanding the unique demands of trading operations, compliance, and market connectivity. This is not a pure support role you ll be responsible for designing, building, and implementing new infrastructure and applications from scratch to meet our evolving business and regulatory needs.
Key Responsibilities
Report directly to the CTIO and collaborate with trading, operations, and compliance to deliver technology solutions that drive business performance.
Design, architect, and deploy new cloud and hybrid infrastructures (Azure/AWS) to support trading, clearing, and back-office systems from the ground up.
Build, deploy, and support internal applications and APIs (Python, React, Flask, Power BI) that streamline business workflows, analytics, and reporting.
Develop and maintain relational databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server) supporting internal applications and financial analytics.
Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines and DevOps automation for rapid application deployment and updates.
Work closely with trading technology teams to ensure infrastructure is optimized for OMS, FIX gateways, trading APIs, and back-office integration.
Design, maintain, and co-manage virtualized co-location environments used for clearing connectivity and market access.
Partner with MSPs to maintain robust desktop infrastructure, endpoint security, and user support.
Administer Microsoft 365, Azure AD (Entra ID), and identity management systems.
Ensure all operations adhere to SEC and FINRA standards for IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and data governance.
Configure and maintain email security, MDM, VPNs, and firewalls.
Develop automation scripts (Python, PowerShell) for monitoring, workflows, and reporting.
Coordinate application upgrades, vendor integrations, and platform migrations for trading and financial applications.
Required Qualifications
Proven experience in a broker-dealer or trading environment, with strong understanding of market structure, regulatory compliance (SEC/FINRA), and trade lifecycle management.
Demonstrated ability to build and deploy new systems and cloud architectures not just support existing environments.
Strong hands-on experience with Azure and AWS, virtualization technologies, and networking fundamentals.
Background in financial systems integration including OMS, FIX protocol, trading APIs, and clearing/back-office platforms.
Proficiency in Python/React development, CI/CD, Power BI, and SQL databases.
Working knowledge of IT security best practices and compliance.
