Responsibilities
- Manage the scheduling, routing, and dispatching of all trucking operations to maximize efficiency and on-time deliveries
- Oversee fleet maintenance schedules, ensuring all vehicles are inspected regularly and meet safety standards
- Implement and enforce safety policies aligned with industry regulations and company procedures to minimize risk and ensure driver compliance
- Lead investigations into safety incidents or operational disruptions, developing corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Monitor driver performance through telematics and other tracking tools, providing coaching and support for continuous improvement
- Collaborate with procurement teams to manage vehicle procurement, leasing, and disposal processes
- Maintain accurate records of fleet activities, safety audits, incident reports, and compliance documentation
Experience
- Proven experience in fleet management or transportation operations within a trucking environment
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations such as FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) standards or equivalent local regulations
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team of drivers and operational staff
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in recordkeeping and reporting
- Ability to analyze operational data to identify efficiencies, risks, and areas for improvement
- Effective communication skills for liaising with drivers, regulatory agencies, vendors, and internal teams
Preferred qualifications include:
- Certifications related to transportation safety or fleet management (e.g., Certified Transportation Professional)
- Experience with fleet management software or telematics systems
- Knowledge of logistics planning and supply chain coordination
