ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Director of Housing, the Assistant Director is a full-time, live-in professional staff member. Based on the particular area of responsibility, the individual would be responsible for the conduct review/restorative justice program, wellness and case management of students of concern. Or responsible for training and leadership development of students, and indirectly responsible for community development and facilities management. When required, the Assistant Director serves as administrator-in-charge for the Residential Education department and/or for the Foundation Housing Service, in the absence of the Director and Associate Director of Operations.
SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):
Student Conduct and Concerns
- Oversees the student conduct/restorative justice process, including adjudication of conduct cases and coordination of appeal with the Director.
- Develops the conduct review process with an emphasis on educational resolutions and restorative justic
- Assists or coordinates development of policies and procedures as stated in the Student Housing License Agreement and University Village Community Standards.
- Coordinates counseling, mediation, education, and enforcement of Foundation Housing Service and Cal Poly Pomona polic
- Meets with students and/or parents to discuss roommate concerns, substance abuse issues, and other personal concerns as needed.
Wellness
- Serves as the case manager for students of concern and creates wellness action plan for residents.
- Coordinates communication and support efforts with Title IX, Survivor Advocate Services, Wellness Center, Counseling Services, Tri City Mental Health, House of Ruth and Mt. SAC for students of concern.
- Develops wellness efforts for residents, including Wellness Week and wellness-focused programming.
Counseling and Crisis Management
- Serves on alternating weekly rotation of Assistant Directors (2) on ca Duties include supporting Supervisors on Duty, responding to crisis situations, logging incidents, and updating the Village Leadership Team on issues dealt with while on duty, and serving as a resource for the student staff.

- Serves as a responder and Evacuation Coordinator for the University Village as part of the campus emergency response team.
Recruitment, Selection, and Training
- Develop an inclusive and fair student leader selection process. Lead the committee for student leader recruitment, selection, and training.
- Work with leaders to assess, design and deliver a creative and engaging recruitment campaign for all student leader positions, which includes development and evaluative workshop programs.
- Research the CSU system, ACUHO-I, and WACUHO for the latest training topics, approaches and trends to revise, update, and incorporate into student leader training.
- Under the advisement of the Director and the Residential Education staff, create, facilitate, implement, and assess student leader training for Fall, Winter and Summer.
- Develop, coordinate, and facilitate an annual training schedule for weekly student leader staff meetings.
Facility Ownership
- Conducts regular walk-throughs of the property; follows-up, when necessary, on maintenance and custodial issues.
- Addresses residents’ facility concerns and coordinates facility improvement efforts as needed.
- Creates and develops strong working relationships with the Operations, IT, and Facilities Staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree required
- Three years of professional experience in residence life, student affairs, higher education or related field.
- Demonstrated ability in aspects of residence life programs, development of policies and programs, enhancement of quality of living and student services
