ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
SUMMARY: Kellogg West Conference Center and Hotel is looking for Student Assistants for Events and Facilities. This position is responsible for various positions within the operations. The Student Assistant will work closely with the lead, supervisors, clients, and staff to ensure a smooth and successful event experience. This position is designed to provide opportunities to hone customer service skills, team development, and foster professional growth.
SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):
The Student Assistant may be assigned one or various positions within the operation. Various positions including:
Facilities – Audio Visual/Events
- Set up tables, chairs and operate audio visual equipment for events, conferences and weddings
- Monitor and adjust sound, lighting and projection systems to ensure smooth operation
- Troubleshoot technical issues with equipment and systems as they arise
- Maintain equipment inventory and facilitate the storage, transport and maintenance of equipment
- Assist with event planning and coordination as needed
- Provide excellent customer service to clients and attendees
- Compliance in safety and security policies and procedures
- Assist with event logistics including setup, teardown and clean-up
- Adheres to regular work schedule
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Facilities – Custodian/Maintenance
- Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of all conference rooms, hotel rooms, offices, hallways, lobbies, restrooms, and other common areas on the property.
- Clean and maintain all equipment, furniture, and fixtures throughout the property.
- Handle the removal of waste and recycling from all areas of the property, ensuring that all guidelines for recycling are followed.
- Perform light maintenance tasks, including fixing minor leaks, changing light bulbs and filters, and any other repairs that can be done without calling in a specialist.
- Reports low inventory levels of cleaning supplies to lead or supervisor.
- Ensure that all cleaning supplies are stored in a safe and organized manner.
- Ensure that all safety protocols and procedures are followed in the performance of your duties.
- Ensure that all guests and conference attendees feel comfortable and welcome while on the property.
- Adheres to regular work schedule
- Performs other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Enrolled as a current Cal Poly Pomona student
- Minimum 6 months customer services experience is preferred.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and problem solve in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and adhere to regular work schedule
- Must be able to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds
- Ability to multitask
- Work schedule is subject to change due to campus holidays and holiday break closures.

ABOUT US: As the largest employer of students on the Cal Poly Pomona campus, the Foundation offers valuable work experience and hands-on training to approximately 1,500 Cal Poly Pomona students each year. The Foundation offers positions in various fields; whether it is in the area of technology, science, retail, culinary arts, hospitality management, leadership or research grants, these student employees participate in Cal Poly Pomona's learn-by-doing philosophy and acquire practical skills in their designated field of study.
