Calty’s primary goal is to research market trends and create innovative vehicle designs that reflect US tastes as well as other global markets. We participate in a variety of project activities, including experimental concepts, advanced, competition and production design for the Toyota and Lexus brands. These design solutions are often shared and developed in collaboration with other Toyota design, planning, engineering and manufacturing groups in Japan and the US. We are currently a seeking a skilled Clay Modeler for our Production Design Studio located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. As part of the Model Development team, you will assist in the development of 3D full-size and scale automotive models. Responsibilities will include all aspects of model making including assisting with fabrication. Ideal candidate will possess: - 5 years of automotive clay modeling experience; - Schooling, training or engagement in 3D development of forms, shapes and surfaces; - Demonstrated aptitude to translate 2D models to 3D sculptures; - Exceptional attention to detail and craftsman-level quality of work; - Excellent spatial perception, hand/eye coordination and dexterity; - Demonstrated ability to work as a productive team member and meet deadlines; - Ability to stand for long durations of time in addition to stooping, bending and reaching regularly and lifting up to 50lbs.
