LOAN ACCOUNTING MANAGER - HYBRID ELIGIBLE
The Loan Accounting Manager oversees accounting, reporting, and administration for Cal-Am's loan portfolio. This position ensures debt activity is recorded accurately and that loan balances and supporting schedules agree to lender records and the general ledger. The manager works closely with accounting, sales, legal and operations and supervises staff supporting loan accounting.
Compensation: $75,000 to $100,000 Annual Salary

Schedule: Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Maintain with the team, complete and accurate records for mortgages including loan terms, payment schedules, interest rates, maturities, and escrows.
- Review principal and interest activity, escrow activity, reserve activity, and other debt-related transactions to the general ledger.
- Prepare and review monthly bank and loan reconciliations and related journal entries in accordance with the monthly closing calendar.
- Review reconciliations of loan balances and activity to the mortgage software and the general ledger; insuring that the team researches and resolve variances promptly.
- Review accounting for new loans and payoffs. Confirm that closing statements and funding activity are recorded completely and accurately.
- Prepare and review monthly loan reporting packages including aging reports for leadership and owners.
- Support monthly cash forecasting by providing expected funding/payoff requirements.
- Manage the collection and legal process for delinquent and defaulted loans from initial collection efforts through final resolution, including demand letters, replevin actions, repossessions, foreclosures, litigation, settlements, and other available remedies.
- Coordinate with outside legal counsel, borrowers, and internal management throughout the legal process, providing necessary loan documentation and monitoring all matters to ensure timely follow-up and resolution.
- Monitor the status of all loans in legal proceedings, maintain accurate records of key dates, filings, court actions, legal fees, recoveries, and required follow-up, and ensure matters continue to progress toward resolution
- Oversee the recovery and disposition of collateral and ensure all legal fees, settlements, recoveries, charge-offs, and other related activity are accurately recorded in the mortgage system and general ledger.
- Maintain organized electronic loan files, including executed agreements, amendments, closing statements, lender correspondence, insurance and tax requirements, and reporting submissions.
- Develop and maintain procedures and controls that improve the accuracy, timeliness, and consistency of loan accounting and lender reporting.
- Supervise and train direct reports.
Experience/Education:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience including 2 years of supervisory experience required
- Experience with loan collections and related legal processes is preferred
- Experience with The Mortgage Office is a plus
