What are the responsibilities and job description for the Molecular Technologist position at Cairo Diagnostics LLC?

A Molecular Technologist is Responsible for Performing:
- Manual and automated methods of DNA and RNA extraction from blood, bone marrow aspirate, Formalin-Fixed Paraffin-Embedded Tissue (FFPE), and saliva
- Preparation of reagents and the use of appropriate storage methods of various reagents
- PCR based molecular assays such as Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), Fragment Analysis, and Sanger Sequencing
- Quality Control methods and daily procedures
Other Responsibilities Include:
- Maintaining complete and accurate records with great attention to detail
- Adhering to HIPAA and OSHA guidelines including OSHA's Bloodborne Pathogens Control Act
- Identifying and troubleshooting problems within the laboratory
- Following the standard laboratory procedures and maintaining compliance with CLIA and safety risk management guidelines
- Using the laboratory information system for all records and functions for the testing of patient samples
- Maintaining stock of all reagents and supplies within the laboratory
- Participating in continuing education
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Biology or related field
- At least 1 year of Molecular experience
- At least 1 year of Molecular NGS experience (Preferred)
- Ability to work well both with a team and independently
- Ability to effectively communicate and complete tasks based on the department’s needs
- MB (ACSP) (Preferred)
