We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that our products meet the highest quality standards and comply with industry regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of quality control processes and the ability to implement and maintain effective quality systems. The Quality Assurance Specialist will play a crucial role in upholding our commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction.
Duties
- Oversees the further development, implementation, review, and maintenance of SQF Certification.
- Conduct regular inspections and tests of products.
- HACCP Team Leader, responsible for ensuring the development and maintenance of HACCP plans.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOP's) as they relate to the food safety system.
- Maintain and manage food safety system and programs, including verification of daily production logs and records and annual system verification and validation.
- Maintain regulatory compliance and certification management, including but not limited to Organic, Kosher, Non-GMO, and lead efforts to obtain and maintain any additional certification and regulatory requirements essential for the company.
- Develop and maintain finished product specifications using scientific data and analysis.
- Conduct grain and finished flour analysis to monitor quality attributes, when not met determine and communicate disposition.
- Monitor supplier performance and compliance to supplier approval program and food safety standards, this includes co-packers.
- Provide technical guidance and direction internally and externally through the generation of certificates of analysis, letters of guarantee, and other methods as applicable.
- Lead investigation of customer and consumer complaints track, and report finding to all parties and implement corrective and preventive actions following root cause analysis.
- Complete training of employees at least annually and monitor effectiveness of training through observation.
- Coordinate with OSHA consultants or specialists to ensure compliance with regulations, including inspections, hazard identification, corrective actions, documentation, and employee training.
- Conduct internal safety and food safety inspections to ensure safe operations and identify areas for improvement.
- Ensure accurate recordkeeping across departments related to food and workplace safety compliance and best practice.
- Be the point person with the Washington State Department of Agriculture and other regulatory agencies.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements across all certification entities.
- The ability to work with individuals at all levels of the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology or related field
- 3 years of quality assurance/food processing experience.
- 2 years of quality assurance experience.
- Strong working knowledge of FDA regulations and SOP requirements.
- Detail oriented with consultative approach to build teamwork.
- Strong working knowledge of FDA/regulations, SSOP, and SOP requirements.
- HACCP Certified.
- Meticulous attention to detail including strong analytical, writing, math, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Proficient with computers and various software packages.
