Accounting Assistant

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

The Accounting Assistant is responsible for supporting the company's daily financial operations by processing vendor invoices, managing customer billing and collections, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting with general accounting functions. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Process and verify accounts payable and receivable transactions, including vendor invoices, expense reports, customer billing, and cash receipts

· Match purchase orders, receipts, and invoices; reconcile vendor statements, credit cards, and customer accounts, resolving discrepancies promptly

· Maintain accurate and organized vendor and customer records, ensuring timely and compliant data entry

· Monitor outstanding balances, support collections efforts, and respond to vendor and customer inquiries regarding billing and payment status

· Assist with monthly close activities, account reconciliations, and financial reporting as needed

· Support audits by preparing and providing required documentation

· Collaborate with internal departments to resolve billing, payment, and account issues

· Provide general administrative and accounting support, including mail distribution, special projects, and ad hoc assignments

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred

· 1–3 years of experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, or general accounting

· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word

· Strong attention to detail and accuracy

· Excellent organizational and time management skills

· Strong written and verbal communication skills

· Ability to handle confidential financial information professionally

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Experience with ERP systems

· Knowledge of basic accounting principles

· Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

· Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

POSITION LOGISTICS

Reports to: Staff Accountant

Working Locations: On-site at a milling facility, Burlington, WA, or Pendleton, OR
