What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Software Engineer, Front-End position at Cainex?
Why Cainex
At Cainex, you’ll join a rare intersection of talent: leaders who’ve spent their careers navigating the realities of healthcare, and AI scientists who are defining the next generation of intelligent systems. Together, we’re tackling one of the most critical challenges of our time: making healthcare operations adaptive, intelligent, and trustworthy.
The systems you build will directly support clinicians, reduce administrative stress, improve hospital revenue integrity, and ultimately support better patient outcomes. If you want your work to have a real impact and shape the tools that an entire industry depends on, this is the place.
About the Role
We’re hiring a Senior Software Engineer, Front-end to help build intuitive, high-performance interfaces for our next-generation AI-native applications. You’ll work closely with product design and engineering to bring complex workflows to life through polished, responsive, and deeply considered UI.
This role is perfect for someone who cares as much about code quality and performance as they do about visual craft, micro-interactions, and the feel of a product.
What You’ll Do
- Build and maintain high-performance front-end features using modern frameworks (React, Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind)
- Translate Figma designs into production-ready interfaces with pixel-level accuracy
- Collaborate with design to refine interaction patterns, animations, and UI details
- Implement reusable components and help establish a scalable design system
- Work with backend and AI engineers to integrate dynamic, real-time, agentic workflows
- Optimize for speed, reliability, and responsiveness across all browsers and devices
- Contribute to front-end architecture, code quality standards, and engineering best practices
- Ship improvements rapidly in a fast-moving environment with tight product/design cycles
What We’re Looking For
Required
- 3–6 years of front-end engineering experience
- Strong expertise in React, Next.js, TypeScript, and modern front-end tooling
- Exceptional UI implementation skills and attention to spacing, layout, typography, animation, and UX polish
- Ability to translate complex product requirements into seamless, intuitive user interactions
- Strong understanding of state management, API integration, and error handling
- Experience building responsive, accessible, high-performance interfaces
- Ownership mentality and comfort delivering end-to-end features
Bonus
- Experience with AI/LLM-powered or real-time interfaces
- Familiarity with real-time architectures (WebSockets, streaming UIs, or agentic UI patterns, SSE, GraphQL subscriptions)
- Experience building design systems or component libraries
- Experience integrating front-end apps with AWS services (Cognito, AppSync, API Gateway, S3, etc.)
Who You Are
- An engineer with strong UI sensibilities and high visual standards
- Obsessed with creating delightful interfaces and smooth interactions
- Comfortable partnering deeply with product designers
- Excited about building UI for intelligent, adaptive AI applications
- Thrive in fast-paced, early-stage environments
Why Join Us
- Build the interfaces for agentic AI. Not incremental features, but a new paradigm of human-AI interaction
- Work closely with a small, top-tier team combining Caltech-level AI research with decades of real healthcare experience
- Shape our front-end direction, influence product strategy, and set the standard for our design system and engineering craft
- Competitive compensation and early equity that grows with the company
- Join a high-trust, in-person culture focused on speed, creativity, and the pursuit of exceptional work
Compensation Range
