Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and highly skilled Qualification Test Engineer to join a Government test and evaluation team in executing qualification test plans for a Unit Under Test (UUT) within test chamber environments. This is a full-time Government-site position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for designing and executing Qualification test plans to validate the functionality and quality of complex Army missile systems
- Lead and support component, subsystem, and system-level qualification testing; test types may include Environmental, EMI/EMC, Safety, and Human Factors; Includes on-site TDY testing support, completing training to operate weapon system equipment at test facility and performing Unit Under Test functional checks.
- Follow Government test plans to conduct mechanical/physical setup of the test equipment and the UUT in test chambers.
- Conduct functional and operational testing of the UUT. Includes executing test procedures by conducting physical and GUI operations.
- Perform UUT functional and operational testing in Climatic and Electromatic environments such as, low temperature, high temperature, rain, icing, humidity and others. Some test procedures required the employee to climb ladders to perform tasks on the UUT in the listed environments.
- Execute troubleshooting, failure analysis and repair as requested.
- Ensure execution of test schedule by collaborating with test facility staff and daily status reporting to Government leadership.
- Evaluate systems to ensure they meet military standards (MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-464)
- Identify potential weapon system issues and defects by performing tests on the system's features
- Report findings to ensure the final product meets specifications, working closely with development teams across the product lifecycle
- This position involves climbing on top of military vehicles and weapon systems
- Work closely with Government Engineering, Logistics, Training, Security as well as OEM Engineering
- The successful candidate will travel 35% of the time as part of this effort
Required Qualifications
- BS or BA degree
- 5 years test and evaluation experience in weapon system qualification testing
- Experience with evaluating systems to ensure they meet military standards (MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-464)
- Required experience of following Government test plans to operate UUTs and test equipment in Climatic and Electromatic environments listed to validate the functionality and quality of complex Army missile systems.
- Must be a US citizen
- Active DoD security clearance
Preferred Experience
- Redstone Test Center (RTC) or other lab experience
