Caffe Driade Barista, Cashier, Bar Back

Caffe Driade is hiring Baristas/Cashiers/Bar Backs to work in our beautiful caffe in the woods in Chapel Hill. This job ensures service standards are met and surpassed by providing customers with prompt, quality coffee selection, purchase, and preparation in a clean and professional environment. Through ongoing trainings and workshops, the employee will develop a deep knowledge of our coffee and other products and will be able to impart this information with confidence to the customer, while creating an enjoyable atmosphere & experience for customers.

Minimum Qualifications & Abilities:

• Experience in customer/ food service/ hospitality
• Must be available weekends (Saturday and Sunday)
• Must have a love of coffee and or tea
• Must possess a desire for detail and an artistic appreciation
• Reliable transportation
• Consistent, reliable, and punctual.
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least eighteen years of age.
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to communicate problems/ask for help as needed.
• Ability to multi-task, and work with purpose
• Willingness to learn new skills, showing concern and dedication to the unit
• Ability to lift and to carry up to 30 lbs.
• Must be able to do simple mathematical calculations.
• Ability to handle cash, POS system, and other unit specific equipment operations

Responsibilities:

• Provide excellent customer service
• Discover guest needs and appropriately suggests product to enhance service
• Effectively provide information and respond considerately to guests, co-workers, clients, and vendors
• Maintain service area and equipment in a clean and appealing manner
• Prepares a variety of beverages according to recipes and up to Caffe Driade standards
• Attend meetings and trainings to gain professional level of coffee knowledge and skills
• Follows store policies and procedures for operational flow at each station
• Presents oneself professionally and works as a team player
• Performs equipment maintenance in accordance with preventative maintenance checklists
• Follows cash handling and register policies
• Maintain environment & atmosphere of the Caffe & grounds.

Physical Requirements:

• The work environment of the position will include daily use of a computer Point of Sale (POS) system & interaction with commercial coffee equipment.
• The employee frequently works near hot equipment and is exposed to approved cleaning chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
• The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, utensils, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms

Conditions of Employment and Benefits:

This is a part-time position without benefits. We require staff to work a minimum of three shifts per week.

We are a Living Wage employer. Pay includes base pay plus tips. Base pay starts at $7.50 per hour plus tips. $8 per hour once barista trained plus tips. Minimum average hourly per pay period is currently $16.60 per hour. Compensation is subject to performance based increases to remain at a competitive industry rate. Raises can be offered annually based on merit. Job compensation includes access to exclusive industry events and workshops & professional development.
