Digital Archivist – Full-Time, On-site (Washington, DC Metro Area)
Cadence Group is seeking a detail-oriented Digital Archivist to lead the management and preservation of digital archival materials. This role ensures long-term access to digital collections, including born-digital materials, metadata creation, and digital storage policies. The ideal candidate is experienced in archival standards, digital preservation, and outreach.
Responsibilities:
- Organize, describe, and preserve digital and born-digital archival materials
- Create and maintain metadata records and controlled vocabularies
- Develop and implement digital archiving policies and workflows
- Provide reference services and maintain collection databases
- Promote and provide access to digital archives through finding aids, presentations, and exhibits
- Lead collection development efforts including appraisal, accessioning, and donor relations
- Support cross-cultural engagement through inclusive and accessible archiving practices
Qualifications:
- Degree in Library & Information Science (MLIS from ALA-accredited program preferred)
- 2 years of experience with digital archival collections
- Strong skills in metadata creation, digitization, and digital preservation workflows
- Proficiency in cataloging, archival software, and content management systems
- Excellent written/verbal communication and outreach skills
- Familiarity with copyright, access policies, and digital exhibit creation
- Preferred: Digital Archives Specialist Certificate (SAA), experience in multicultural environments
