SUMMARY
The Student Support Liaison will provide personalized guidance and support to students. This role focuses on fostering students' academic success, personal growth, and well-being by building strong relationships, providing resources, and collaborating with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with students to support engagement, communication, and resilience.
- Provide academic, social-emotional, and attendance-focused mentoring, including goal setting, daily check-ins, and individualized support plans.
- Monitor and analyze attendance data to identify trends, address concerns, and implement intervention strategies.
- Collaborate with families, teachers, administrators, and attendance teams to address barriers to student success and improve attendance outcomes.
- Develop and maintain attendance intervention plans for assigned caseloads and document progress for support meetings.
- Participate in MTSS, SBLC, Harbor Support, Care Responder, and other student support meetings as required.
- Conduct regular family outreach and meetings to identify root causes of attendance challenges and coordinate appropriate supports.
- Maintain a visible campus presence by engaging with students during arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, and school events.
- Support attendance incentive programs, student recognition activities, and school-wide engagement initiatives.
- Attend monthly meetings with district attendance leadership and provide updates on student progress and intervention efforts.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to strengthen mentoring, intervention, and student support practices.
- Assist with additional school-based duties and student support initiatives as assigned.
- Assist with the McKinney-Vento students on campus.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Two years college (48 hours minimum) including 9 hours of Mathematics and 9 hours of English or an Associate degree/or higher or pass the test stipulated by the Louisiana State Department of Education. Some previous experience working with children is preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Knowledge of writing reports, presentations, and procedural manuals. Proficiency in presenting information and responding to questions from groups of teachers, administrators, and the public.
PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
Ability to plan, organize, and supervise the work of assigned personnel. Ability to work tactfully and harmoniously with schools, staff, agencies, parents and the public. Ability to handle pressure, objectivity, confidentiality, organization, planning skills, reporting skills, listening, verbal communication, and client relationships.
