Classified Electrician

Position Description

POSITION TITLE:  Electrician

FLSA:                     Non Exempt

QUALIFICATIONS:                        

• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• Five years of experience as a journeyman electrician or commercial experience preferred. 
• Ability to lift 55 pounds to should height occasionally
• Ability to push / pull a minimum of 20 pounds frequently
• Demonstrates aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities;
• Effective communication skills and team oriented;

REPORTS TO: Maintenance Supervisor          

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Twelve month employment (261 days). Salary (Grade G) to be established by the Board of Education. Benefits according to the Classified Agreement.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

1. Assume primary responsibility for the safe condition of lighting fixtures, electrical apparatus, wiring, panels and disconnects, and similar electric elements in the facilities owned or operated by the district.
2. Recommend electrical repairs to be  performed by outside contractors
3. Performs all electrical repair work in accordance with county and municipal code.
4. Recommend supplies and equipment for purchase and maintains the inventory of district-owed tools, equipment, electrical supplies, and light bulbs.
5. Complete repair orders in a timely fashion per industry standards.
6. Estimate costs of electrical repair projects in terms of labor and material.
7. Examine electrical equipment in district owned or operated facilities on a regular basis for purposes of preventive maintenance and safety.
8. Plan, install, and complete electrical systems for special projects as needed.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Work overtime as directed.
2. Attend meetings as directed.
3. Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Salary : $42,109 - $55,828
