Senior Manufacturing Quality Systems Engineer (PPAP/FMEA)

Location: Bluffton, Ohio

Engagement: Open-Ended Contract position

Compensation: $30.00–$40.00 per hour (based on proven work history)

A day in this role

You start your day on the production floor, day shift, partnering with inspectors and operators. You review active jobs, open PPAP packages, and the latest control plan revisions. A nonconformance pops up—you lead the root-cause analysis, align the team on corrective actions, and update the PFMEA to prevent recurrence. Between shop-floor coaching and documentation readiness, you keep customer standards front and center.

What you will do

• Ensure all products consistently meet or exceed customer quality standards.
• Investigate defects to identify true root cause and drive permanent corrective actions.
• Champion best practices that prioritize defect prevention across cross-functional teams.
• Train and support shop-floor associates and Quality Inspectors in quality assurance methods.

Core quality documentation and tools you will own

• PPAP document packages and readiness for customer submission.
• Creation and maintenance of Control Plans, PFMEAs, Process Flows, and gage MSAs.
• Author Inspection Instruction Worksheets (the step-by-step guides used by inspectors and operators for what and how to inspect).
• Set up part folders, manage PSWes (problem solving with every step), and assemble final PDF packets using ADOBE document merger.
• Tackle related sidebar projects that strengthen quality performance.

What makes you successful

• Bachelor's degree (BA) or 5 years of relevant experience; equivalent combinations considered.
• Approximately 7 years as a senior-level Quality Engineer, ideally in a metals manufacturing environment (or equivalent experience).
• Proven leadership with strong interpersonal skills; able to influence across operations.
• Exceptional organization, analysis, and communication capabilities.
• Detail-oriented, self-directed, with the work ethic to hit the ground running.
