Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to join our dynamic mental health and behavioral support team. In this vital role, you will provide direct patient care to individuals experiencing various behavioral health challenges, including developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, PTSD, and addiction issues. You will assist with behavioral management, crisis intervention, medication administration, and data collection to support treatment plans. Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate patient care by assisting clients with daily activities and behavioral needs in accordance with individualized treatment plans
- Monitor and record vital signs, medical documentation, and behavioral data accurately while maintaining HIPAA compliance
- Implement behavior management strategies using applied behavior analysis (ABA) techniques to promote positive behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors
- Support crisis intervention efforts by managing emergency situations calmly and effectively, ensuring safety for clients and staff
- Assist with intake procedures, medical records management, and documentation of medical terminology related to patient care
- Collaborate with social workers, medical professionals, and caregivers to coordinate care plans and ensure consistent support for clients
- Administer medications as prescribed following proper protocols and document medication administration thoroughly
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with children or individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or mental health conditions such as PTSD or addiction counseling is highly preferred
- Strong understanding of crisis management, crisis intervention techniques, and behavior management strategies
- Knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs measurement, medical records maintenance, and HIPAA regulations
- Ability to perform data collection accurately and maintain detailed documentation in compliance with healthcare standards
- Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with clients, families, and team members
- Certification or training in applied behavior analysis (ABA), special education, or social work is a plus but not required
- Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings or weekends as needed
