SUMMARY:
The Director of Finance is a hands‑on finance leader and strategic business partner responsible for driving insight‑based decision support across the organization. This role partners closely with Sales, Operations, and Executive leadership to support profitable growth through rigorous financial analysis, forecasting, and performance management. Operating in a fast‑paced, private‑equity‑backed consumer food environment, the Director of Finance will both execute and lead owning core FP&A processes while providing forward‑looking insights that influence key business decisions. This role manages one to two direct reports and is expected to scale tools, processes, and capabilities as the business grows.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as a trusted finance partner to Sales, Operations, and Executive leadership, providing clear, actionable insights to support pricing, margin, mix, capacity, and investment decisions.
- Drive operating margin improvement by identifying growth and cost opportunities, evaluating trade‑offs, and supporting execution with data‑driven analysis.
- Lead long‑range planning, annual budgeting, and rolling forecast processes, ensuring alignment with business strategy and PE value‑creation objectives.
- Own variance analysis and performance tracking, clearly explaining drivers of results versus plan and forecast.
- Develop and maintain management reporting, dashboards, and KPI frameworks that translate financial and operational data into meaningful insights.
- Prepare and present financial results and recommendations to cross‑functional leaders at varying levels of the organization.
- Continuously improve budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and incentive plan processes to increase speed, accuracy, and scalability.
- Establish planning calendars, coordinate inputs across functions, and ensure accountability to timelines and deliverables.
- Lead, coach, and develop a small finance team (1–2 direct reports) with a focus on ownership, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Act as a “player‑coach,” remaining actively involved in analysis and execution while building team capability.
- Maintain strong command of the P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and working capital, helping leaders understand financial implications of operational decisions.
- Partner cross‑functionally to interpret results and support informed, timely decision‑making.
QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required; MBA preferred
- 7 years of progressive finance experience; CPG and/or manufacturing experience strongly preferred
- Proven experience leading budgeting, forecasting, and FP&A in a growth‑oriented environment
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills with the ability to interpret trends across financial statements
- Experience presenting financial insights to senior leaders and influencing decision‑making
- Demonstrated ability to improve and scale finance processes in a dynamic, resource‑lean environment
- Strong communication, leadership, and cross‑functional partnership skills
- Comfortable operating in a hands‑on, private‑equity‑backed setting
