Job Description:
CACI is seeking an Electrical CAD Drafter technician to work with a dynamic team of ship Marine/ Mechanical/Electrical/Structural engineers and Naval Architects. You will develop, revise, and provide quality assurance on 2D and 3D drawings and models to support various engineering projects alone and as part of an engineering team primarily in support of the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and the Military Sealift Command (MSC).
Responsibilities:
- Use, maintain, and improve AutoCAD drawing drafting practices and tools to develop and revise shipboard and system drawings with high efficiency and accuracy.
- Develop and use advanced features to decrease drawing development time and reduce errors.
- Attend ship surveys for modification or upgrades to in-service vessel systems and document arrangement and details of existing electrical/electronic components for the development of drawings.
- Author and develop design reports to accompany in-service modifications to ship systems.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Must be a US Citizen Ability to Obtain a Clearance Minimum
- 5 years of hands-on experience working in AutoCAD 2D; proficiency includes familiarity with the use of dynamic blocks, arrays, LISP scripting, and external references.
- Experience with drafting for ship design, modification, or maintenance projects. Ability to work alone on individual projects with minimal supervision and with other Engineering Disciplines on a team.
- Ability to interface with team members, technical leads, and Project Managers
- Ability to review and apply US Navy and/or US commercial ship design requirements, including DOD acquisition, system safety, and testing processes
- Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word Good verbal (English) communication skills Willingness to travel ≤10% of the time
Desired:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering Shipboard and/or shipyard design, operation, or repair experience Engineering and Technical Authority (E&TA) Familiarization training
- Apply working knowledge of maritime regulations, classification society rules, and industry standards to ensure compliance.
