Position Summary
This position is responsible for establishing and leading a successful basketball program, that includes development of self-discipline, character, teamwork, leadership, sportsmanship, citizenship, responsibility, academic excellence and the molding of the leaders of tomorrow's society. This position will be to encourage student participation and manage the successful day-to-day operations of the basketball program. This position shall set an example of an exceptional professional educator and be ever mindful that both coach and player represent the Cabot School District and are expected to conduct themselves in an exemplary manner.
This position does include coaching Track as a secondary sport. All expectations named above and below for the basketball program will be the same for our track program.

Essential Tasks And Responsibilities
- Organize and lead the successful basketball program
- Prepare successful practice plans and game plans
- Provide guidance and leadership to assistant coaches
- Establish and maintain rapport with students and encourage student participation
- Motivate students to achieve maximum potential
- Maintain equipment and uniforms
- Organize and lead after school practice sessions for the fall semester continuing through the final basketball game of the season
- Schedule and play the minimum of required games per season
- Schedule and participate in a holiday basketball tournament
- Organize and lead an appropriate summer training program
- Maintain an organized locker room and gymnasium
- Coordinate publicity for the basketball program and foster good relationships with the press
- Interact with other basketball coaches to ensure consistency in athletic achievement between the school levels
- Work collaboratively with staff, families and community resources
- Travel to away games with the team
- Maintain compliance with all rules and regulations of the Arkansas Activities Association (AAA)
- Conduct an off season program
- Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws
- Ensure that student conduct conforms to the school's standards and school district policies
- Coordinate with other professional staff members and participate in meetings as needed
- Adhere to all policies/rules/regulations of the District, the Athletic Handbook and the Code of Ethics for Arkansas Educators
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by the building administrator, Athletic Director, and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Knowledge of the fundamentals of the game of basketball
- Possess strong communication skills, both in oral and written form
- Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed
- Ability to organize and coordinate work
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, administrators, staff and stakeholders
- Ability to travel to school district buildings and professional meetings, as needed
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work
- Must have the appropriate coaching endorsement on teaching certificate
- Coaching experience preferred
- CDL required, or must be willing to complete required training
- Successful completion of all background checks
