To provide appropriate instructional assistance and support for students, based on lessons developed and provided by the classroom teacher.
Essential Tasks And Responsibilities
- Observe, monitor and assist students in the classroom, according to approved procedures
- Assist with classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions
- Ensure a safe and orderly classroom, and ensure students are on task
- Supervise students in classroom, and consistently administer rules regarding student behavior
- Assist students in completing classroom assignments, homework, and projects
- Assure student understanding of classroom rules and procedures
- Assist students by answering questions, providing proper examples, emotional support, friendly attitude, and general guidance
- Confer with teacher concerning lesson plans and materials to meet student needs
- Keep accurate records of student attendance and behavior, including any tardiness, and submit to the administration in a timely manner
- Assist with the preparation, monitoring, and following of Individualized Education Plans for selected students assigned to the class
- Support and implement high standards and expectations for all students
- Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning, while implementing assigned lessons and programs
- Assist in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills, according to individual student needs
- Assist with record-keeping procedures to document student learning and performance
- Construct, copy, distribute, and use educational materials as needed
- Follow all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper manner of assistance for all students
- Adhere to all policies of the district
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by the building administrator and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent

- Must have 60 college hours - OR - successfully have passed the Paraprofessional Exam
- Successful completion of all background checks
