The Lead Accountant position resides in the Accounting department at CableLabs. This department manages the accounting activities for CableLabs and its subsidiaries to ensure accurate tracking of business activities. We translate business activity into reliable intelligence which guides strategic decisions across the organization.

This role will partner closely with human resources, senior leadership, and department heads, and will lead efforts toward continuous process improvement. We are looking for someone that brings expertise in accounting at scale, and the ability to drive cross-functional process improvement and accuracy in a dynamic environment.

What You’ll Do
- Month End Close, Reconciliations & Reporting:
- Partner with multiple departments and entities to align accounting activities with operational objectives, ensuring consistency across the enterprise.
- Prepare and support a broad range of journal entries related to AR, AP, expense, revenue, deferred revenue, PP&E, and intercompany accounting.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of key balance sheet accounts.
- Lead the month-end close timeline by ensuring all operational activities and adjustments are recorded accurately and on schedule.
- Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports and analysis for leadership.
- Process Improvement & Systems Ownership:
- Administer and optimize the corporate P-card program.
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, reduce manual work, and enhance data accuracy across the Finance & Accounting organization.
- Recommend and implement best practices in operational accounting and process design.
- Lead system implementations, upgrades, and integrations impacting accounting operations.
- Support the selection and implementation of a new ERP system.
- Internal Controls, Compliance & Audit :
- Leverage prior audit experience to support compliance, internal controls, and external audit coordination.
- Maintain and strengthen controls over all accounting processes including appropriate segregation of duties and documentation
- Develop and keep current process documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and control narratives.
- Support internal and external audits by providing schedules, documentation, and explanations.
- Other duties as assigned
What Is a Must Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- 5 years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, or related roles.
- Solid understanding of US GAAP, accrual accounting, and internal controls.
- Skilled at documenting, optimizing, and automating accounting processes to improve efficiency and control.
- Meticulous approach to transaction-level work and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Ability to identify issues, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement pragmatic solutions.
- Broad operational accounting background spanning general ledger and audit activities.
- Highly collaborative and solid understanding of multi-entity accounting and the interdependence between Finance, HR, IT and other functions.
- High level of integrity and judgement in managing confidential and sensitive information.
- CPA certification (or, in pursuit of)
- Experience in Enterprise Resource Platform (ERP) vendor selection and/or implementation.
- Desire and ability to mentor junior staff.
