We are currently seeking an General Counsel - Contracts to join our organization. This role is critical as we begin establishing our internal legal function. The ideal candidate will play a foundational role in shaping and building our legal department with guidance from experienced leaders across the company.
Who We’re Looking For:
A detail-oriented, highly responsive attorney who excels in a fast-paced environment and is confident handling a high volume of legal needs. We are looking for someone who can operate as a “full-contact” attorney; meaning when a department requests something, they can quickly gather information, provide guidance, and turn around deliverables by the next day when needed.
This individual must be comfortable collaborating across departments, managing multiple priorities, and providing clear, practical legal advice. We want someone who enjoys making an immediate impact and is excited to help build a legal team from the ground up in a company that values integrity, accountability, and community.
Responsibilities:
Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts including vendor agreements, NDAs, employment contracts, and licensing deals.
Serve as the point person for contract-related legal support across all departments.
Establish and implement contract management processes as we build the internal legal team.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws, as well as internal policies and procedures.
Provide legal counsel on contract disputes, enforcement, and terminations.
Work closely with HR, finance, operations, executive leadership, and store-level teams.
Identify legal risks proactively and recommend mitigation strategies.
Maintain contract lifecycle documentation and ensure all renewals, updates, and obligations are tracked.
Monitor regulatory and legal developments impacting the automotive and corporate sectors.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
Active license to practice in Missouri and Kansas (or ability to obtain Kansas licensure).
2–4 years of experience in contract law, preferably in an in-house or corporate environment.
Strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with both legal and non-legal stakeholders.
Highly organized with a strong sense of urgency and responsiveness.
Experience with legal research tools or contract management software is a plus.
