Cabinet Peaks Medical Centers is seeking a Medical Records Clerk to work with our Health Information Management team! This position retrieves, assembles, analyzes, scans, routes, and finalizes electronic and hard copy patient health records. Collaborates with HIM team members and other medical center departments in provision of information as needed for patient care, coding, billing, research, and physician documentation completion. Performs data entry, cross trains to enable coverage of other department positions, participates in department quality initiatives. Coordinates completion and submission of birth certificate documentation.
Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities
Skilled in the use of electronic medical records systems (Meditech preferred), dictation and scanning software and hardware.
Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, medical center and clinic office procedures and protocols.
Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with teammates, providers, contractors, vendors, and other medical center departments.
Ability to mentor and teach new system users/co-workers.
Must be able to maintain a sense of urgency and the ability to multitask.
Must be a proactive learner, team and task oriented, well organized, and able to provide excellent internal and external customer service.
Major Job Duties & Responsibilities
Coordinates processes associated with electronic health record (EHR) implementation, including vendor liaison, workflow and integration analyses, user training, testing, and troubleshooting.
Provides requested information to medical center departments and outside entities digitally, via telephone, fax, mail, or in person.
Scans/retrieves data into/from electronic documentation systems.
Monitors office supply inventories, submits orders to Materials Management as needed..
Proficiently operates computers, scanners, printers, copiers, phone system, and fax.
Collaborates with Information Systems Department and system vendors to troubleshoot and help resolve issues.
Participates in department quality projects and performance improvement initiatives.
Efficiently manages time and organizes workload to maximize medical center and department resources.
Communicates with providers and other medical center departments as needed to facilitate documentation integrity and completion.
Schedule
Day shift, Monday through Friday
Educational Requirements
High School diploma or GED
Associate degree, vocational certificate, other post-secondary coursework in a healthcare related field, or equivalent experience preferred.
Experience
A minimum of one year in a healthcare related office setting.
