General Definition of Work
The Program Coordinator for the new healthcare innovation microschool at Jay M. Robinson High School serves as the Program Ambassador and Lead Representative for Cabarrus County Schools in collaboration with The Pearl Innovation District and community partners. In partnership with the principal of Jay M. Robinson High School, the Program Coordinator oversees the microschool as its instructional and operational leader, ensuring alignment with the school’s broader vision and goals.
This role is responsible for cultivating and sustaining strong partnerships, driving innovation in education, and leading the operational, instructional, and community engagement components of the microschool. The Program Coordinator will chair the Advisory Board, coordinate efforts among district and community stakeholders, and ensure that the microschool functions as a model of experiential, career-connected learning. Key responsibilities include managing academic scheduling, fostering staff collaboration, and supporting student advisement to help every learner achieve their academic and career pathway goals.

Essential Functions
Program Leadership and Representation
- Serve as the primary Program Ambassador for the microschool, representing Cabarrus County Schools in all partner and community engagements.
- Foster and sustain relationships with business, industry, higher education, and community partners.
- Lead and facilitate the advisory board and design team meetings to align program goals, partnerships, and decision-making processes.
- Represent the microschool in Board of Education meetings, open houses, district events, and public forums.
- Serve as the point of contact for The Pearl Innovation District and The Pearl STEM Lab, ensuring clear communication and collaboration across agencies.
Strategic Planning and Program Implementation
- Oversee all aspects of program development, launch, and implementation in alignment with the district’s vision for innovative learning.
- Lead development and execution of Memorandums of Agreement (MOAs) with The Pearl Innovation District.
- Identify and pursue funding opportunities, grants, and sponsorships to sustain and expand the program.
- Collaborate with district leadership to manage budgets, facilities, and resources.
Academic Scheduling, Counseling, and Advisement
- Collaborate with school administration and counseling staff to design, audit, and manage the master schedule to support microschool pathways.
- Ensure accurate course coding, student placement, and alignment with graduation and college/career readiness requirements.
- Lead academic advisement and planning for all microschool students, ensuring individualized learning pathways that integrate core and career coursework.
- Partner with counselors and staff to track student progress, maintain data accuracy, and ensure compliance with district and state standards.
- Coordinate communication with families regarding academic plans, scheduling, and course opportunities.
Curriculum Design and Instructional Innovation
- Work with curriculum writers, teachers, and Career and Technical Education leadership to design innovative, cross-curricular learning experiences.
- Align microschool curriculum with NCDPI standards and healthcare/AI pathway requirements.
- Support staff in developing experiential field and lab experiences connected to classroom learning.
- Collaborate with administration to ensure professional development opportunities are aligned with program goals.
Operations and Logistics
- Oversee classroom design, facilities readiness, safety procedures, and logistical needs in collaboration with The Pearl and district departments.
- Coordinate transportation logistics, including hub stops and safety access.
- Manage communication with district support services, ensuring efficient operations and compliance with CCS procedures.
- Support the development of the microschool’s School Improvement Plan and ensure continuous review and refinement of program systems. Oversees the Healthcare Innovation Microschool in partnership with the principal of Jay M. Robinson High School, ensuring alignment with the school’s overall School Improvement Plan for consistency and cohesion.
Family and Community Engagement
- Plan and facilitate family orientations, open houses, and community events to build awareness and engagement.
- Develop and distribute program communications including newsletters, FAQs, and marketing materials.
- Represent the program at fairs, expos, and promotional events such as Program Choice and Futures Fair.
- Maintain ongoing communication with families regarding enrollment, expectations, and program updates.
Data, Evaluation, and Accountability
- Collect, analyze, and report data related to student achievement, enrollment, and program effectiveness.
- Conduct ongoing schedule and pathway audits to ensure alignment and balance across cohorts.
- Prepare regular reports and presentations for the Advisory Board and Board of Education. Lead program evaluation and continuous improvement processes, including staff feedback and student outcomes.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of the federal and state mandates and local procedures and regulations relating to special education programs;
- Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of school administration;
- Ability to develop and present ideas effectively in both oral and written formats;
- Skill in the use of personal computers and related software packages, hardware and peripheral equipment;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
Education and Experience
- Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction, or related field preferred.
- North Carolina Teaching Licensure preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of successful experience in secondary education, leadership, or program coordination.
- Demonstrated skill in partnership development, community engagement, and advisory board facilitation.
- Experience in master scheduling, student advisement, and curriculum coordination preferred. Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Physical Requirements
