KIDS:PLUS Site Coordinator                                                     10- Month Non-Exempt

 

General Definition of Work

Plan, administer, and lead the licensed school-age child care program at the assigned site(s), ensuring full compliance with all state licensing requirements, Cabarrus County Schools policies, and KIDS:PLUS operational expectations. Provide leadership, supervision, and program oversight that meets or exceeds 5-Star standards for school-age child care.

 

Minimum Requirements

  • At least 21 years of age
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Hold and maintain valid NC DHHS Child Care Criminal Background Check and Qualification Letter
  • At least 6 months licensed child care experience (or 9 months of unlicensed)
  • NC Child Care Administration Credential (minimum Level I, preferred Level III)
  • Have or willing to obtain within 90 days of hire:
    • Basic School-Age Care certificate (BSAC)
    • NCDCDEE Program Coordinator Certification
    • CPR and First Aid; maintain biannually
  • 2 or 4-year degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, preferred
  • Maintain all required training
  • Demonstrate punctuality, reliability, flexibility, patience, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to children and families.

NC-05 | 35 hours per week

 

Reports to
KIDS:PLUS Program Director and Assistant Director; Collaborates with school Principal

Essential Functions

Program Compliance & Quality

  • Ensures full compliance with all NCDCDEE licensing rules, 5-Star standards, CCS policies, school rules, and KIDS:PLUS policies.
  • Manages the site in alignment with the SACERS-U program quality expectations.
  • Ensures the site consistently meets requirements for health, safety, supervision, ratios, sanitation, nutrition, and emergency preparedness.
  • Completes all required records, reports, drills, inspections, and documentation accurately.

Leadership & Staff Management

  • Provides day-to-day leadership, supervision, and support for all site staff.
  • Conducts staff orientation, ongoing training, and coaching; provides regular feedback and enforces accountability.
  • Schedules employees, monitors attendance, and arranges for coverage.
  • Conducts monthly site meetings and participates in monthly leadership meetings.
  • Assists with recruitment, selection, and interviewing of group leaders and substitutes.
  • Serves as a positive role model and maintains professional conduct at all times.

Family, School, and Community Partnerships

  • Maintains frequent, positive communication with school administrators, teachers, KIDS:PLUS staff, parents, children, and community partners.
  • Responds promptly and professionally to family concerns, incidents, or issues.
  • Draws upon school, program, and community resources to create enriching experiences

Program Planning & Implementation

  • Ensures weekly activity plans are completed, posted, and implemented with fidelity.
  • Designs, organizes, and maintains engaging, developmentally appropriate learning centers
  • Selects materials and equipment; submits purchase requests as needed.
  • Supports curriculum implementation, including 4-H programming, enrichment activities, and special events.

Operations & Financial Management

  • Manages site-level finances, enrollment, attendance reporting, scheduling documentation, and inventory.
  • Ensures secure handling of funds, accurate documentation, and compliance with internal controls.
  • Maintains organized records and ensures confidentiality of staff and student information.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Thorough understanding of child development, school-age best practices, and behavior guidance
  • Skill in building positive relationships with children, families, and staff.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, emergency, and first-aid procedures.
  • Ability to manage staff, resolve conflicts, and provide effective leadership.
  • Ability to design developmentally appropriate programs for individuals and groups.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain detailed documentation and complete reports accurately.
  • Ability to operate computers, tablets, office equipment, and learn specialized software (including accounting and child care management systems).
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and solutions-focused in fast-paced or stressful situations.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly requires standing, walking, speaking, hearing, and use of hands.
  • Frequently requires reaching, bending, lifting, and repetitive motions.
  • Requires the regular exertion of up to 25 pounds of force, frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force.
  • Must be able to supervise children both indoors and outdoors, often on uneven ground or in varying weather conditions.
  • Must be able to visually monitor large groups of children, with near, far, peripheral, depth, and color vision.
  • Requires ability to verbally communicate instructions clearly and loudly.
  • Requires hearing sufficient to distinguish voices, calls for help, and environmental cues.
  • Requires ability to operate equipment and measurement tools as needed.
  • Regularly requires exposure to typical childhood illnesses and bloodborne pathogens, with PPE provided.
  • Must be able to work in environments with elevated noise levels.
