Psychological Service Coordinator

General Definition of Work
Performs difficult professional work planning, organizing and coordinating the School Psychology program. Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Student Safety & Well-being, provides supervision over school psychologists, assists with leadership and administrative responsibilities for the department and related work as apparent or assigned, makes decisions about prioritization and placement of psychological services and management of performance. The Psychological Services Coordinator provides consultation and problem solving to school psychologists and district level personnel regarding matters that impact student success. Reports to the Director of Student Safety & Well-being.

Salary
State Salary Schedule plus 10% supplement for coordinator role
Reports to
Director of Student Safety & Well-being
Essential Functions
- Coordinates the district Psychological Services program (PLC, needs assessment, NC Standards of School Psychology, Assessment, EC Testing, etc.)
- Participates in the school psychologist recruitment, hiring, and evaluation processes
- Creates and communicates observation and evaluation schedule of school psychologists
- Serves as contributing evaluator and supervisory consultant for school psychologists, to include regular school visits and check in opportunities with school psychologist personnel
- Supports lead school psychologists through leadership team meetings and organizational planning
- Collaborates with lead psychologists and Director of Student Safety & Well-being to develop vision, goals and objectives for school psychological services program
- Organizes staff meetings, creates agendas, oversees meeting notes, coordinates professional development workshops
- Regularly monitors data related to psychological services to evaluate necessary programmatic adjustments and provides updates to Director of Student Safety & Well-being as requested
- Supports the work of Exceptional Children and tiered problem-solving across the district
- Serves on various district and community level committees as assigned
- Adheres to the values and ethics of the school psychology profession
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of the practices, methods, and techniques used in the special education process for diagnostic and evaluative procedures
- Thorough knowledge of federal and state mandate and local procedures and regulations relating to special education program
- Ability to express ideas clearly and accurately orally and in writing
- Ability to maintain detailed records
- Ability to operate standard office equipment and related hardware and software
- Ability to learn specialized equipment and software based on district needs
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with associates, parents, community agencies, and the general public
- Knowledge of relevant public school law, ethics, and professional standards for school psychology work and support services
- Ability to advocate appropriately and professionally for understanding and support on issues that directly impact the effectiveness of school psychology practice and the high-level needs of vulnerable students
- Demonstrates expertise in leadership skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex problems
- Strong organizational skills and strong attention to details
- Ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization
Education and Experience
- Master’s/Advanced degree in school psychology, or related field and moderate experience working as a school psychologist, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At least 5 years of experience in school psychology, preferably at multiple levels, with at least 3 years of experience as a CCS school psychologist.
Special Requirements
- School Psychology license
- Applicable training will be provided
- Valid drivers license in the State of North Carolina
