Job Overview
At Caballeros Catering we are seeking an energetic and highly skilled Kitchen Manager / Head Chef to lead our culinary team with passion and precision. Responsibilities & Requirements
- This position requires a minimum of 50 hours per week. There will be seasonal changes so any deviations from this expectation are to be cleared with the supervisor.
- Chef will track food and labor costs.
- If chef meets all requirements of labor and food cost, they will be incentivized $500-$1000 per year (i.e. Food Cost- 20% Labor Cost-10%)
- Lead and supervise all kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and motivated team environment
- Oversee food preparation, cooking, and presentation to ensure consistency with high standards of quality and aesthetics
- Manage inventory control, including ordering supplies, tracking stock levels, and minimizing waste
- Chef will maintain kitchen equipment to their abilities and keep all areas of the kitchen clean.
- receive and review feedback with supervisor and make improvements accordingly
- Develop and plan innovative menus that align with the client and event needs
- Ensure strict adherence to food safety regulations, sanitation standards, and proper handling procedures
- Coordinate shift management, scheduling staff rotations, and maintaining smooth daily operations
- Oversee food production processes in the dietary department, ensuring compliance with dietary restrictions and special requests
- Supervise food service management activities to guarantee timely delivery of orders and excellent guest satisfaction
- Implement inventory management systems to optimize food costs while maintaining quality standards
- Lead by example in kitchen safety practices, cleanliness, and efficient workflow management
- Chef will log hours each day and document what tasks were completed
Qualifications
- Proven experience in kitchen management or as a head chef within fine dining or similar upscale environments
- Must lead with a positive attitude
- Extensive culinary experience with strong cooking skills across various cuisines
- Demonstrated supervisory experience managing diverse culinary teams
- Knowledge of food industry best practices including food safety, handling, and sanitation protocols
- Experience with banquet, catering, and large-scale food production is highly desirable
- Familiarity with inventory management tools and food service software
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate staff and foster a positive team culture
- Excellent menu planning abilities with an eye for detail and presentation excellence
- Background in hospitality or restaurant management preferred
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality and service
- Must be consistent and timely at ALL times
