Job Description And Duties
Office Technician (T) - Investigative Services Unit (ISU)
Under the direct supervision of the Correctional Lieutenant, Investigative Services Unit (ISU), the ISU Office Technician (T) is responsible for independently tracking the on-going investigations and activities of the entire ISU staff. Duties include compilation of statistical data derived from on-going monitoring. Due to the sensitivity of the information monitored, confidentiality is of the utmost concern. Independently interacts with Department of Corrections Headquarters, high-level management and outside agencies (Solano County District Attorney, Law Enforcement agencies). Acts as a primary resource for CMF ISU with regard to incident referrals and litigation.

Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s).

  • The position(s) require(s) the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications (link available in the additional documentation section). You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired. Additional information regarding acceptable typing tests is available at the CalCareers.ca.gov website.
  • The position(s) require(s) a(n) Valid Typing Certificate Certificate. You will be required to provide a copy of your certificate prior to being hired.

Candidates who have been withheld may file an appeal with the State Personnel Board.

Candidates new to CDCR are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.

Desirable Qualifications
In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

Highly skilled in tracking through the court system.

Reports writing skills, responsible for formatting and preparations of Memorandums.

Ability to proofread reports for completeness.
