Job Description And Duties

Under general direction as a sworn peace officer, either (1) in a State adult correctional institution to plan, organize, and direct a major institution program division, or major organizational unit; or (2) as a principal assistant to a headquarters administrator, to perform technical or supervisory duties of comparable level; and to do other related work.

Folsom State Prison is located approximately 30 miles east of downtown Sacramento and just minutes from old town Folsom.

The grounds of the prison are surrounded by beautiful landscaping and friendly wild animals (deer, squirrels, turkeys, geese, etc.)

Statement Of Qualifications
A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is being required to obtain information regarding each applicant’s knowledge, skills, and abilities as related to this position.

  • Possesses a broad and extensive administrative experience in managing a major correctional program that includes any or all of the following: Healthcare access, custody, housing, classification, work, academic and vocational education, discipline and appeals of inmates and offenders, and correctional business management.
  • Possesses knowledge and experience in communicating effectively with incarcerated individuals, understanding the challenges faced during incarceration, promoting positive behavior and supporting the rehabilitative efforts of offenders.
  • Possesses experience in applying principles and techniques of personnel management, supervision, and staff development.
