What are the responsibilities and job description for the VP Data Analytics position at CA ASSOCIATION OF HOSPITALS?
SUMMARY |
Responsible for generating complex healthcare data reports and providing field-wide information and analysis to CHA staff, members, public agencies, regional associations, legislators, the public, the media, and other organizations on a time-sensitive basis. These products are most often used in education and advocacy efforts. Our ideal candidate will feel comfortable engaging with some of the state’s top healthcare policy experts, legislative advocates, hospital executives and communications professionals to produce high-quality, accurate, and meaningful reports and analyses that tell a story behind the numbers.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES |
- Design and develop new data visualizations, dashboards, and other analytical tools to better comprehend and translate healthcare data for advocacy and policy development.
- Provide expertise and stewardship for relevant data sets, including hospital finance data and be comfortable conducting high-level data analyses and working with large data sets.
- Conceptualize data analyses to identify trends, opportunities, and anticipate the impact of state and federal policy changes.
- Review and analyze published studies on California’s hospitals and healthcare system to validate their accuracy and identify erroneous conclusions.
- Translate the results of data analyses into easy-to-understand charts, graphs, and other visuals, to explain the analysis and conclusions to colleagues, stakeholders, elected officials and CHA members.
- Collaborate with colleagues to provide clear and concise feedback, analysis, and expertise on data analytics.
- Provide oversight and direction to the Director of Data Analytics and the Data Analytics Coordinator.
REQUIREMENTS |
- Bachelor’s degree in statistics, data analytics, business administration, public health, or other relevant discipline
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in analytics; health care policy analytics preferred
- Advanced skills in MS Office software programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Experience with database management and data visualization software (e.g. SQL, SAS, PowerBI, Tableau, SmartSheet).
- Strong collaborative skills and resourcefulness to make the best use of available resources and data assets.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects in a timely manner, turning concepts into reality.
- High degree of initiative, resourceful and strong problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to effectively communicate with others, verbally and in writing, in an informative and non-technical manner.
- Provides exceptional customer service to CHA members and One Team colleagues.

Salary : $170,000 - $210,000
