What are the responsibilities and job description for the Metal Finish- Paint Prep position at C5ISR (Gichner Systems Group, Inc.)?
GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
Prepares shelters, pieces, and parts for paint.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Receives verbal and written instructions.
- Receives units, washes/rinses, and dries with cloth.
- Removes masking from holes and cleans with solvent.
- Vibrates spot weld marks, scratches, excess sealer and adhesive.
- Check the surface to be painted for dents, hand buffs dents, and fills with J7 body filler.
- Vibrates filler to achieve a smooth surface.
- Cuts paper using patterns, covers, and mask areas not to be painted.
- Tack rags unit to remove lint and dust and move to the paint booth.
- Use vibrator in completion of operation.
- Other duties may be assigned.

Required Experience:

- Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3-6 months of on-the-job experience required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Shop floor environment.
- Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to perform repetitive motion (rotating wrists, keyboarding, using small/large tools).
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to tolerate constant noise (i.e. machine motors).
- Ability to pass a Pulmonary Function Test.
- Ability to follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
