This is a remote, ongoing engagement for someone who knows agency finance from the inside and can hit the ground running in Workamajig. The work is hands-on, detail-oriented, and central to keeping creative work moving and client billing clean.
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Contract, ongoing, approximately 30 hours/month
Location: Remote
Compensation: $50-$60/hour, commensurate with experience

Job Description
The Bookkeeper supports the agency's finance team by managing day-to-day accounting functions within Workamajig, the agency's project management and accounting platform. This role works cross-functionally with project managers and account leads to ensure billable time, expenses, and client invoices are captured accurately and processed on time.
This is not a back-office role in the traditional sense. In a small agency, the bookkeeper is a key operational partner, and the right person understands how finance and creative production intersect.
Responsibilities:
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accurate and timely processing of vendor bills and client invoices within Workamajig
- Handle project-based billing including invoicing against retainers, milestones, and time-and-materials engagements
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements on a regular cadence
- Track project budgets and flag variances to finance and project management leadership
- Support monthly close activities including journal entries and financial reporting
- Coordinate with project managers and account leads to ensure billable time and expenses are captured accurately
- Maintain organized financial records in compliance with agency policies
Requirements:
- 3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience in an agency or creative services environment
- Hands-on experience with Workamajig is required, this is a hard requirement, not a nice to have
- Solid understanding of general accounting principles including AR, AP, reconciliation, and month-end close
- Experience with project-based and retainer billing models
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Strong communication skills and comfort working cross-functionally with non-finance teammates
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment with minimal oversight
Nice to Have:
- Experience supporting finance leadership through audits or annual reporting cycles
- Familiarity with integrated time tracking and resource planning workflows in Workamajig
