Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our growing team at our Virginia headquarters. This role is ideal for a highly motivated professional who learns quickly, takes ownership of challenges, and thrives in a fast-paced corporate environment. The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in accounting operations, tax compliance, financial reporting, business registrations, and insurance compliance, with a clear path for growth into Controller or CFO leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Perform full-cycle corporate accounting, including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close
Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements with a high level of accuracy and timeliness
Manage general ledger activity, account reconciliations, and journal entries
Handle corporate tax compliance, including Forms 940, 941, and SUTA filings
Oversee payroll processing and ensure payroll tax compliance
Manage business registrations and compliance requirements across multiple states
Conduct accounting and tax research to independently resolve issues
Effectively manage and prioritize multiple competing deadlines
Collaborate with internal teams and external clients, including complex or high-demand stakeholders
Proactively identify issues, recommend solutions, and drive process improvements
Qualifications and Skills
Proven experience in corporate accounting
Strong leadership skills or demonstrated leadership potential
Ability to quickly learn new systems, processes, and concepts
Experience preparing personal tax returns
Advanced proficiency in Excel and QuickBooks Online (QBO)
Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
Ability to think strategically while executing tactically
Excellent time-management skills with a consistent record of meeting deadlines
Professional written and verbal communication skills
Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field
CPA preferred
