Overview
The Network Engineer II’ s role is to ensure the stability and integrity of data and voice networks. This is achieved by planning, designing, and implementing local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) across the organization. In addition, the Network Engineer will participate with the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. This individual will also analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training where required.

Pay Range
$80,000 - $125,000
Base pay ranges are estimated. Actual base pay will be based on education, experience, location, certifications, skill set, and any other relevant factors. Incentive/variable pay opportunities are in addition to

Overview

In addition, the Network Engineer will participate with the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. This individual will also analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training where required.
Responsibilities
- Designs and deploys company LANs, WANs including routers, switches, firewalls, VPN concentrators, wireless, and other hardware
- Configures networks to ensure efficient and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
- Monitors network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed
- Creates and maintains documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records
- Monitors ticketing queue, responds to incidents in a timely manner, documents solution
- Ensures network connectivity of all servers, workstation s, and other network appliances
- Develops, implements , and maintains policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery
- Conducts research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry
- Manages all network security solutions in accordance to industry best practices
- Provides guidance to junior members of the team
- Participates in after hours, on-call rotation as needed
- Notifies end users of planned network outages / maintenance, work with providers to understand impact and timeline of provider outages
- Provides backup coverage for other functions including systems administration, virtualization, storage, and telephony
Required Qualifications
- BS/BAs degree in IT or related field (Industry experience may b e considered in lieu of degree)
- At least 5 years of experience in si milar role
- Network focused industry certifications
- Certifications in Juniper, Ci sco, Microsoft, or equivalent
- Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general ne twork management best practices
- Network monitoring tools such as Solarwinds , Paessler , or Splunk
- Disaster Recovery planning/testing
- Expert level knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 devices
- High-level knowledge of QoS , MPLS, Ethernet, VLAN’s, routing protocols
- Previous experience supporting a multi-site, interconnected network environment with 500 employees
- Excellent hard ware troubleshooting experience
- Strong interpersonal, written , and oral communication skills
- Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
- Highly self-motivated and directed , with keen attention to detail
- Proven analytical and proble m-solving abilities
- Able to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Stro ng customer service orientation
- Experience working in a team-orie nted, collaborative environment
- Technical certifications are preferred, s pecifics are dependent on team placement
- Unified Communications/VoIP/SIP experience
- Juniper Networks / Extreme experience
- Aruba / Meru Wireless experience
- Previous Avaya experience
