Job Description Summary "The Surgical Technologist administers intra-operative care to patients within the surgical/operating room environment. Care is provided in collaboration with anesthesia, surgeons and other staff members. Under the supervision of the OR RN, Supervisor/Manager/Director, the Surgical Technologist: • Integrates physiologic, medical, surgical, and anesthetic information to give appropriate patient care. • Uses the principles of asepsis to assist the surgeon in the maintenance of the sterile field, providing for optimal patient care in the OR • Effectively functions in the sterile environment, demonstrating knowledge and ability in performing the role of first scrub on all assigned surgical cases. • Cares for surgical patients of all ages and all levels of acuity. This position demonstrates knowledge and skills required to provide care and/or service appropriate to the level of development of patients, with consideration of the needs of patients' families. Additional Job Description Education: High School Graduate or hold a GED certificate. Completion of an approved surgical technologist program required. Experience: Previous experience preferred.
