Lafayette 3920 Building 3920 St Francis Way Lafayette, Indiana 47905 The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works under the direction of the Registered Nurse and physicians in the clinic setting. This position contributes to the assessment of the health status of individuals, participates in the development and modification of the plan of care, implements the appropriate aspects of the plan of care, maintains safe and effective nursing care, and participates in the evaluation of the responses to the plan of care. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT Plans and manages patient care according to each patient’s needs, and in collaboration with the Physician and Registered Nurse. Interviews patients and recording their medical history. Measures and records patients' vital signs, such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, or respiration. Administers prescribed medications or starts intravenous fluids, noting times and amounts on patients' charts. Observes patients, charting and reporting changes in patients' conditions, such as adverse reactions to medication or treatment, and taking any necessary action. Provides basic patient care or treatments, such as taking temperatures or blood pressures, dressing wounds, treating bedsores, giving enemas or douches, rubbing with alcohol, massaging, or performing catheterizations.
