Job Summary
The Director of Development and Engagement will lead C-U at Home’s fundraising, communications, and volunteer engagement efforts. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution, giving the right candidate the opportunity to grow our current donor base, cultivate meaningful relationships, and implement creative campaigns that advance the organization’s mission.
This position is ideal for a proactive, entrepreneurial fundraiser who wants to make a tangible impact while joining a winning, supportive team.
Key Responsibilities & Time Allocation
1. Fundraising & Donor Engagement (60%)
- Lead annual giving, major gifts, and planned giving programs
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, corporate sponsors, and faith partners
- Implement donor recognition and stewardship strategies that build long-term loyalty
- Track fundraising performance, identify growth opportunities, and drive results
2. Volunteer Engagement & Events (20%)
- Recruit, onboard, and nurture volunteers who embody compassion and excellence
- Plan and execute mission-driven, community-focused events
- Develop volunteer recognition systems and celebrate contributions year-round
3. Community Engagement & Collaboration (10%)
- Represent C-U at Home at community, civic, and faith-based events
- Build partnerships that expand donor and volunteer engagement
- Collaborate with internal teams to align messaging, goals, and initiatives across programs
4. Communications & Storytelling (10%)
- Share C-U at Home’s mission and impact through authentic storytelling
- Oversee social media, website content, newsletters, and marketing materials
- Collaborate with staff to gather stories, photos, and updates that showcase our work
- Work with external consultants or creative partners as needed to support content creation
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
- 2-3 years of experience in fundraising or development (faith-based nonprofit experience a plus); 5 years preferred
- Proven track record in donor cultivation and achieving fundraising goals
- Exceptional organizational, verbal, and written communication skills, with a talent for storytelling
- Ability to work collaboratively and lead with integrity and professionalism
- Knowledge of donor management systems and planned giving strategies preferred
- Flexible schedule with occasional evenings and weekends required
