About the Role
C. Slagter Construction is seeking an experienced Guardrail Crew Lead to oversee guardrail installation and repair operations on transportation projects throughout Florida. This role requires strong leadership, field coordination skills, and a solid understanding of guardrail standards. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, communicates clearly, and ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate daily guardrail installation, removal, and repair activities.
- Supervise field crews and ensure proper use of tools, equipment, and safety procedures.
- Interpret plans, specifications, and requirements for guardrail layout and installation.
- Coordinate with project managers, inspectors, and subcontractors to meet production goals.
- Track materials, equipment needs, and crew schedules to maximize efficiency.
- Perform quality checks and ensure compliance with all safety and construction standards.
- Maintain accurate daily logs, reports, and site documentation.
- Serve as the primary on-site contact for project-related guardrail work.
Minimum Qualifications
- 2–4 years of experience in guardrail installation or highway safety hardware work.
- Proven experience leading a crew in heavy civil or roadway construction.
- Strong knowledge of guardrail specifications and installation methods.
- Ability to read construction drawings, lineups, and safety plans.
- Valid driver’s license; ability to travel to job sites statewide.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with end treatments, transitions, thrie-beam, and special-use guardrail systems.
- ACLP, MOT/TTC certification, or similar roadway safety credentials.
- Experience coordinating multiple job sites or crews.
- Class A CDL license
