Construction Inspector

Position Overview

C&S Companies has a project specific (7 to 8-month duration) Construction Inspector available in Baltimore, MD. This project specific opportunity offers a competitive salary, employee benefits (including health insurance and time-off provisions) Residential/Commercial construction experience highly desired.

Responsibilities include:

• Performing daily construction inspection services including acting as a liaison between the Owner and contractor
• Conducting hands-on inspections, ensuring work is completed according to the plans and specifications
• Notifying Owner of problems and deviations from plans and specifications
• Tracking quantities for payment, completing daily inspection reports, creating and verifying punch-list work
• Homeowner/tenant interaction and other associated responsibilities related to the construction process.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Basic understanding of Microsoft Excel & Word
• Ability to work within various project management software.
• Ability to maintain a daily job log and records
• Attention to detail
• High degree of Interpersonal skills

Desired Education & Experience

• Three to Five years of related experience in Residential/Commercial construction or a Bachelor/Associates degree in Construction Management.
• Inspection experience in the construction industry
• Ability to read and interpret designs and specifications.

Additionally, full-time permanent employment is a possibility for airport construction projects across the country if the candidate successfully completes work on this project and has the following:

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Ability to identify non-compliance items and proper procedures for correction. Effective organizational and computer skills, including the use of MS Office products, Bluebeam, and e-Construction applications.
• Ability to travel for short- and long-term assignments
• Familiarity with and ability to interpret civil  and/or vertical construction plans and specifications

Desired Education & Experience

• Airport construction experience (horizontal projects) highly desired
• Bachelor’s degree in related field
• Concrete and asphalt pavement inspection experience
• Vertical construction experience a positive
• Underground drainage, utilities and electrical experience

Estimated Compensation Range and Benefits

$40.00 - $45.00/hr*
