As a Custom Applicator III, you will be responsible for accurately mixing, loading, transporting, and operating specialized equipment to apply chemical solutions in designated areas at customer locations. This position will specialize in the application of litter amendments in poultry facilities. Custom Applicators will engage with customers and be knowledgeable with regard to the chemical they are applicating. A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements is required for this position.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Application & Logistics
- Safely and accurately apply litter amendments in poultry facilities according to customer specifications and industry standards.
- Operate and maintain application equipment, including trucks and specialized machinery, ensuring they are in good working order.
- Monitor application rates and adjust equipment settings as needed to achieve desired outcomes.
- Follows appropriate standard operating procedures (SOP) for mixing, handling, loading, and applying all chemical products including, but not limited to, chlorine-based solutions, acids, pesticides (insecticides, herbicides, rodenticides), and disinfectants.
- Deliver exceptional service by being punctual, professional, and responsive to customer inquiries.
Compliance & Safety
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including the proper handling and application of litter amendments and the operation of heavy equipment.
- Personnel required to follow company and customer bio-security and safety protocols. Must be able to wear PPE including, but not limited to, masks, gloves, boot coverings, eye, ear, and face protection.
- Maintain accurate records of materials used, application rates, and services provided.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, particularly those related to hazardous materials.
Equipment Maintenance
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on application equipment to minimize downtime and ensure operational efficiency.
- Conduct pre- and post-operation inspections of equipment, addressing any issues promptly.
Education & Qualification:
- High school diploma or equivalent, agricultural experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required. CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsement required for Customer Applicator level II or higher.
- Clean motor vehicle record (MVR) and no preventable accident history.
- Outstanding customer service and communication skills.
Other Duties:
- Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy. Performs other duties as assigned.
- Able to work an unstructured or flexible schedule depending on demand.
- Able to carefully maneuver vehicles and equipment in confined environments.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently required to sit; occasionally required to walk, stand, climb stairs, balance, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and use senses such as smell. Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle objects.
- Routine reaching, squatting, twisting, lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 60 pounds.

Work Environment:
This position will consist of various working environments including, but not limited to, confined poultry housing, outdoor, and warehouse operations. Confined poultry housing is a dusty environment and at times may have high levels of ammonia.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
